TESTIMONIALS
“Steve Pyter is a composer that has caught my attention as his compositions are well-crafted for the young band while still having a sophisticated sound to them. His melodic and harmonic language is creative, fresh and interesting while utilizing the various colors of the wind band through a variety of voicings and complimentary use of percussion.”
ALEX KAMINSKY • DIRECTOR OF BANDS, VANDERCOOK COLLEGE OF MUSIC • AMERICAN BANDMASTERS ASSOCIATION MEMBER
“These are great! Very musical and interesting. Having materials that are engaging for both performers and audience with most any combination of five or more wind instruments plus percussion is so very important. There will always be a market for good music that works with less-than-ideal instrumentation. The inclusion of string parts makes them even more flexible.”
KEN SNOECK • RETIRED DIRECTOR OF BANDS, LAKE PARK HIGH SCHOOL • BANDS OF AMERICA HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE
The Colorado Mesa University Wind Symphony had the distinct pleasure of recording “Harvest” by Steven Pyter for Grand Mesa Music Publishers. Because it is such a beautiful and inspirational piece, we performed it twice. Such heartfelt and passionate creativity!
I encourage all directors to seriously consider programming Steven’s pieces. I know I will be programming more of his works in the near future!
DR. CALVIN HOFER • DIRECTOR OF BANDS, COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY
Steven Pyter’s compositions are accommodating to the needs of student musicians in all music ensemble classrooms. As music educators, we are highly selective with our repertoire choices due to the fact that our music selection is often seen as our curriculum and textbook. His well-crafted pieces make it easy to build educationally sound lessons, scaffold student’s knowledge and skills to develop mastery, and provide welcomed challenges for each student musician. I know programming any piece composed by Steven Pyter would promote high levels of musicianship and help music educators meet the diverse needs of their various music ensembles.
ALEXIS SUJKA • BAND DIRECTOR, KANKAKEE HIGH SCHOOL
As someone who teaches beginning instrumentalists at the high school level, I'm ecstatic to play Steven Pyter's music! His compositions are both accessible and musically engaging. Each piece contains something for every student and the flexible instrumentation is a lifesaver for directors who may not have all instruments present in their programs.
